Mehmet ÖZTÜRK, Chairman of the Board of “Öztürk İnşaat”

WE HAVE BEEN DOING BUSINESS WITH OUR OWN FUND FOR 20 YEARS
Gaziantep, one of the prominent cities of Turkey with its industry, tourism and gastronomy, also stands out with its construction sector and new architectural works.
“Öztürk İnşaat ve Özel Beton” is among the companies that have made a name for themselves in the sector with their projects such as residences, workplaces and hotels in the city.

We hosted Mehmet Öztürk, the chairman of the board of directors of Öztürk İnşaat, who produces projects that add value to life and people,in our magazine.
We talked about his business life, his company and his partnership with Baydoor.

– When did you start your career?
Mehmet Öztürk – People’s dreams and the realities of life are different. After graduating from the education faculty of 19 Mayıs University in 2002, I was waiting to be appointed as a teacher. My father worked in the construction industry. I entered the industry at his request. We are a family business, our family ties are very strong, my father, me and my brothers work together.
-Can you tell us about your companies?
Mehmet Öztürk – We have two companies within our organization.. One of them is Öztürk İnşaat, where we do special projects, and the other one is Özel Beton.
As Öztürk İnşaat, we do build and sell construction works. We have been buying our own land since the day we were founded. We build our own project on it. We have never been involved in a flat-for-floor project. Since we do our projects with our own fund, we do not compromise on quality. We do it on time and at an affordable price.
As for our Özel Beton company, we are the dealer of Çimko. We sell all the materials of the rough parts of a construction such as cement, ytong, pumice, plaster, insulation of Çimko. As Özel Beton, we offer professional solutions in the supply of wholesale materials to construction companies and companies selling construction materials in our city.

-What kind of projects do you do as Öztürk İnşaat?
Mehmet Öztürk – We plan our projects according to time and needs. You get the right results when you start from the right place. Since the day we were founded, we have completed many housing projects that put people’s priorities in the center. Housing stocks increased in Gaziantep. Gaziantep is a constantly rising value with its industry and trade. For the last three or four years, we have developed correct and purposeful commercial areas for our companies, which carry this value to higher levels every day. We put these commercial areas into the service of our companies. We are currently building 50 commercial shops in KÜSGET. We do not sell these shops, we rent them out to companies.
Recently, Gaziantep has been hosting a large number of people due to tourism, gastronomy tourism and fairs.
We wanted to add a hotel with a high brand value that will offer solutions with its comfort and architecture to the accommodation of people who come to our city.
For this purpose, we are building a hotel on the historical Silk Road in the center of the city. We designed our hotel as a project with 160 rooms, 240 beds with high class social facilities. I believe that it will be a value for our city.
-What is your objective as a company?
Mehmet Öztürk – As Öztürk İnşaat, we will continue to carry on special projects in the residential and commercial areas. We aim to have a say in the sector with our Özel Beton company. We aim to expand in sectors with Build-Sell, Build-Lease and material supply, and to grow in a balanced way by diversifying our revenues.
-Do you have a special architectural style in construction?
Mehmet Öztürk- We work with Önder Ateş from ARVE Architecture on our projects. For 20 years, we have created our own unique style. We continue to develop our architectural style, which has been appreciated by people, without changing it..
-How do you evaluate the construction industry?
Mehmet Öztürk- Costs rose in the construction industry. We were selling concrete at 160 liras 2.5 years ago, now we sell it at 1100 liras. Land prices increased 4-5 times, material prices increased 4-5 times again. However, the purchasing power of the people did not increase. Loan interest rates are high and have come to a standstill. Incomes of low and middle income groups did not increase in proportion to costs. This reduced sales and put the industry in trouble. If loan interest rates fall, the sector will be paved.

-How did you meet Baydoor?
Mehmet Öztürk- The friendship of my brother İbrahim Öztürk and Bahadır Bay from Baydoor paved the way for us to work together. We have used Baydoor products in most of our projects. Currently, Baydoor is making the doors and furniture of our 160-room hotel from A to Z on a turnkey basis. Baydoor and our architects designed it together. We created our sample room and then we started doing the whole project.
– Why did you choose Baydoor?
Mehmet Öztürk- Baydoor gives confidence with its corporate organization, production power and business ethics. We are doing big projects. Speed and quality are important, we cannot risk our business. Baydoor’s references are strong and they give us confidence. We trusted, and they did not let our trust go to waste.
Who is Mehmet Ozturk
He was born in Gaziantep in 1978. He completed his primary and secondary education in Gaziantep. He graduated from the Faculty of Education of 19 Mayıs University in 2002. He entered the construction industry after his father’s request. He is the father of two boys and a girl.
